Since the 1960s, the British artist Phyllida Barlow (b. 1944, lives in London) published a comprehensive created. Her work deals with the particular space, for their large-scale sculptures are created. Fed is the formal vocabulary of Barlow by objects of everyday life and, above all forms of public, municipal, and manufacturing-based development. This allows echoes of flags, street signs, Betonpöller, panels and groups to recognize the urban life, but these forms always from a pasty, expressive color and material layer are coated so that they are finally open sign, gear up the room.

Phyllida Barlow has taught over 30 years in London and influenced many colleagues. Her former students include Rachel Whiteread, Steven Pippin, Douglas Gordon, Spartacus Chetwynd, Bill Woodrow, Angela de la Cruz and Eva Rothschild. According to recent exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Basel and the mountains at the invitation of Kunsthal silver cap and their exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery this year with Nairy Baghramian and her solo exhibition at Studio Voltaire in London, was their work to a wider audience known. Currently she is a solo exhibition at the BAWAG Foundation in Vienna and all rooms of the Kunstverein Nürnberg - Albrecht Dürer record on society, including the distribution hall in February 2011.
The Academy of Fine Arts has Phyllida Barlow invited to guest lecture and thus offers the opportunity to get to know personally the work and the artist before her exhibition at the Kunstverein Nuremberg.
